Our Motivation
Ever been curious about the music those around you listen to?
What’s playing in their headphones – what songs are the backdrop to the time and place around them?
Imagine a way to discover the perfect song for every moment, curated by your friends and fellow music-lovers alike. Music has the power to connect people, evoke new emotions, and turn moments into powerful memories. However, it can be difficult to find the right song for the occasion, or to capture the perfect vibe for a certain location. Especially in the hustle and bustle of a city or campus, there are hundreds—if not thousands—of music-lovers who cross paths everyday, each with their own unique soundtrack.

What if we had a way to share these sounds, sparking vibrant connections and conversations around this sometimes invisible yet essential part of our lives?
Welcome to MelodyMap—a music-sharing app that allows you to discover music based on location, see what others are listening to, and connect on a deeper level with friends, family, and strangers!
The Social Setting
Music has been an integral part of the human experience since the earliest cultures, acting as a universal language and a form of intimacy.
In a society that is more online than ever, people are constantly seeking to find new social connections and discover this intimacy in new ways. Location-sharing became a popular concept among friends and family. Initially beginning as a method to keep one another safe and in check, it has evolved into a means to track and connect with friends on the daily (more on this in Research).

Our team created MelodyMap in order to create a novel experience in building those new social connections through music sharing based on location, opening up new opportunities for deepening those relationships.
Targeting an audience of young students through adults, MelodyMap provides as a new platform for people of all ages to discover new music and connect with strangers, friends, and loved ones from anywhere.
